Love Guru Movie Review

Aight, this is one of the last press screening that I was be able to attend for awhile as I've a lot of work to catch up with next month. Lucky me, the movie was super hilarious as it was Mike Myers' Love Guru. In case the name Mike Meyers doesn't bring much of an idea, just think Austin Powers.

KEYART2

This time, Mike Myers is The Love Guru~. As Guru Pitka, he is on a mission to spread the message of love, be it self love or to love others. This movie is packed with big names like Jessica Alba, playing one of the lead actress in the movie as Jane Bullard, a rich girl whose daddy bought over the Toronto Maple Leaves Hockey team. Jane is somewhat involved in a romantic sizzle with Guru Pitka as the movie goes deeper later. She's no doubt captivating, especially when she undertook the scene of Indian dance in the movie.

LOVE GURU

Ben Kingsley plays Guru Pitka's master, Guru Tugginmypuddha. Yes I know the movie has a lot of puns just like Austin Powers' (Ivana Humpalot, Fook Yu, Fook Mi & etc). Back to Kingsley, he was awarded an Oscar for his portrayal of the great Indian philosopher and activist Mahatma Gandhi. But this time, he's playing a funnier role, a cross-eye guru who hands out chastity belts.

LOVE GURU

Next, an actor I myself failed to spot till the very end of the movie. Justin Timberlake. Yes, you can try scrolling up to see the first picture in this blog post. He's in there. No shit. Justin Timberlake starred as "Le Coq" (Coq is pronounced as Cock) who is seductive, charismatic, in love with chick-flicks and Celine Dion's tunes. He's sort of bad guy in the movie, but a funny one, I must say. With his mustache and curly hairdo, I honestly couldn't recognize him at all.

LOVE GURU

The wheels of popular peeps kept rolling as even Mini Me is brought into the picture. Verne Troyer (his real name) played Coach for the Toronto Maple Leaves Hockey team as Coach Cherkov. He is no doubt comical and funny due to his size.

LOVE GURU

Okay, a quick cap of the storyline. Guru Pitka is the world's second best guru, right behind Deepak Chopra. He wants to be the next Deepak Chopra and thus, being on Oprah's show is definitely going to help his popularity. Along came a request from a Canadian hockey team to solve a relationship problem between its star player and Guru Pitka took the opportunity by hand to show what he is capable of doing.

Romany Malco played the role of Darren Roanoke, the star player of Toronto Maple Leaves who is seriously affected by his ex-wife current relationship with Le Coq (Justin Timberlake) which is a goalie for another rival team. Guru Pitka is entasked to fix his relationship with his wife in order to break the Bullard Curse that has been haunting the team from winning the Stanley's Cup after the Bullard family bought over the team.

LOVE GURU

Will Guru Pitka succeed? Of course he will. It's a happy ending movie. It wouldn't be fun if it doesn't end happily. And you will be entertained with all the humor that you enjoyed from Mike Myers' Austin Powers as well. And do expect a lot of sexually suggestive puns and phrases in the movie. ;)

LOVE GURU

I personally enjoyed the movie a lot. Though it wasn't as good as Austin Powers, but it is definitely worthwhile for the laugh. Well done Mike for tickling my funny bones.

P.S. So many press screenings, but how come there are so few Nuffnangers who want to watch and review them? Free movies and blog ideas also not interested ah? =.="

Cheers
Robb
